Hi Frank,
Some months ago, I had the occasion to post a short item about an SAS lad on
a deep-insertion mission in the Iraqi desert, using a PRC-316 (20W HF-SSB
manpack) to "get the message through". Now just imagine if this poor guy had
to tinker with his radio whilst taking fire from enemy irregulars.
At least one can take comfort in the fact that the PRC-316 is the product of
a "real" radio manufacturer. Admittedly, HM Loyal Taxpayer probably paid
more for it than he would have for a bit of MFJ kit, though.
