I woke up this morning to find my mailbox filled with
talk about expensive radios and accessories. I don't
know what anyone else is up against, but that
certainly is not the case here. I got back into the
hobby 3 years ago after a long sebatical. My first
rig was a Kenwood TS-520S, loaded, which I paid $400
for on E-bay. I have also found that, if you comb the
internet, check local radio shops and flea markets,
and look for estate sales, you can often get some nice
stuff for very reasonable prices. Is it going to be
the latest equipment...no....but it will get you on
the air with some respectable. I have also added a
706 MKIIG and a 746 Pro to my collection, both new.
the 706 was only $800 and the 746 was $1800. Not bad
for execllent performance. My suggestion is that you
folks get creative..there are deals out there to be
had...go find them!
