I was thumbing through a newly-arrived HBO catalog this evening and
noticed the Icom D-Star ad on its back cover. PC control for this
1.2Ghz/10Ghz digital transceiver is implemented via a USB port! Perhaps
the VLSI used to accomplish this was designed for use across Icom's
product line, in which case we can look forward to USB interfaces in
future Icom transceivers. If only...
