ICOM makes the BP-170. Best price is about $25 from Universal Radio.
Better call quick, as the last time I discussed this they sold out! They
also sell the Comet BNC-24 for about $19.
I also use a HM-75 mic. I hang the radio on the backpack, and control it
via the mic. I hang the mic over my shoulder. Only thing not OK is the
volume control. Out in the desert, it doesn't need to be loud.
I am retired army. I have always enjoyed being outdoors. Hiking is the
civilian equivalent of a good old road-march. So I became a state park
volunteer. I now have a 37 square mile desert mountain range to play in.
The rangers love it that I, with my skills and gear, go into areas they
don't have time for. In a pinch, the W32A will work on their freq. My
daughter thinks they should issue me an M-16, but they refused! <grin>
If longer battery life is what you are looking for, this will do it for you.
