Ok guys here is what I think your problem is. I had the same problem with
mine while on a road trip two days before the June VHF party. I had no tools
but stopped by Radio City in MN and the nice folks there had the service
tech look at it and we couldn't figgure it out either so I bought a new one
and went on my way. When home I took apart the ear piece. Inside is a
terminal strip and the wire came loose inside there. A word to the wise when
taking this apart. DO NOT try to pry the plastic halves apart on the
earpiece. Carefully remove the foam covering on the ear pad and access the
insides this way. I used an exacto knife to cut mine apart and the had to
super glue the thing back together, hence the warning not to do this and go
through the ear pad. It will need to go back with glue also but it will look
neater and less chance of damage to the earpiece and your hand with that
sharp knife. Add a little extra wire to give it more room inside to move
around. I made an adaptor for mine and use it at home on my 746 Pro with a
footswitch. The details of this are on Adams great web page. Good luck and
be careful!!. Rick K8DXN
