Perhaps it is stating the obvious, but Auto Notch is "unavailable" in CW
mode because it would function to notch out the CW signal one is trying to
receive.
The firmware defeats Auto Notch in CW mode leaving only the Manual Notch,
which works extremely well on CW to remove very close interfering signals.
As Adam pointed out, it is equally effective in SSB not only to remove
heterodynes but also further to modify the passband shape to reduce the
effects of nearby SSB stations.
