Yes Tony, you are correct.
However what I am trying to say is that it often appears to me that
amateur radio operators are too quick to jump in and modify a nicely
engineered piece of equipment.  Sometimes it is just fine to leave it
alone as it came from the factory.  The 781 is one of those rigs in my
opinion, with perhaps the power supply issue being the one area of
weakness.  I simply run my 781 at 105 VAC via a variac and it runs much
cooler.  Or a fan set over the supply works well too.  Otherwise, I
suggest leaving it as is.
