Hi adam; I guess I need a better understanding of the definition of "dot
matrix" screen. I still have my original IC-756 s/n 2509. The screen on it is
composed of a grid of vertical and horizontal lines. The spacing of these is,
as close as I can measure, 0.045 inches. Presumably when the grid is excited
the square formed by four of these grid lines fills in and a series of them
form the character or letter. I was under the impression that this was a dot
matrix ?. Am I wrong. I have never had any indication of the "Blue lines of
Death". On the other hand, when I had my IC-746 as well, it's screen appeared
to be the typical LCD bar formation such as one sees on a typical 2 meter rig.
In fact the colour (english spelling hi hi) brochure that I still have
illustrates the 746 this way. Was there different configurations of these
displays ? Just curious I guess and hope that the 756 hangs in. In the mean
time I have downloaded the virtual screen for my computer in case the supply
ever does dry up. All the best, Keith, VE3JKC. p.s. what caused these blue
lines, I never did see a technical analysis. jkc.
