Hi Gang, Maybe I had better clarify my original post somewhat:

I am a new subscriber to this list. I just picked up my first ever
piece of Icom gear, an IC-765 at an estate sale few months ago. The
rig is in mint condx, but far as I know no mods have been made.

I run high speed CW, 25 - 35 WPM, and the heat sink ventilation
box seemed to be getting a bit warm for me (not hot to the touch,
just nice and warm). The series-pass BJT's regulators on the Ten-Tec
power supply for my Corsair got a little too warm for me at high speed
CW, and a small desk fan aimed at the P/S heat sinks cured this problem.
I thought the IC-765 was possibly using some early power MOSFET's
as finals, but a kind member of the list pointed out the IC-765 finals
are BJT's, and he also sent me a PDF copy of the IC-765 QST review.
Thanks VA3 ???

I also mentioned in my orginal post that the Notch Filter did not seem
to be working. Well, it does work, but does not seem to work as well
as the Notch Filter on my TS-990 or the Kenwood TS-830S I used to
have. It is quite possible that the IC-765 needs some alignment. It has
an early serial number (1991). Also, the IF Shift to Passband tuning mod
has not been made. The PIN diode mod and audio cap mod have also not
been made to my knowledge.

I only have the 500 Hz filter, and this quad conversion receiver is really
super. Never have to use the Preamp except on 10M sometimes. Just
with the 500 Hz filter, the selectivity is still great !!

The VA3??? sent me the web site to download the mods - thanks. I am
am ole retired Navy RF Communications Engineer, and I just like power
transistors to run cool !! The internal fan in the IC-7675 operating fine.
Any additional info appreciated !!
