Hi Larry,

The IC-765 desperately needs the PBT Mod. You can download a set of IC-765
documents, including the W2ISB PBT Mod, here:

The PA heatsink should not run excessively hot in normal SSB service. You
may wish to check the PA idle (standing) current (meter Ic scale) when
transmitting in SSB mode, without modulation . The nominal value is around
0.5A.

Hi Gang,

Just subscribed to list. Picked up a nice IC-765 at an estate sale
recently. Seems to be a great rig, but have some questions you
owners might help me with:

1) Rig seems to run a little warm at 100W, especially the heat
sink ventilation box at rear. Internal fan comes on OK, but
still little warm for me. Suppose you could remove speaker
from grill in top cover to let some heat out. Tried a desk
fan blowing across the box at rear, but doesn't do much
     good.

2) The IF Shift and Notch controls seem pretty well worthless.
Any mods to make these controls work like the Kenwoods
I am used to running ?? Web site for mods, info, etc.

3) My first Icom rig - any info related to above or anything to
make this rig run better appreciated.
