Hal is correct.
The tubes can be found for much less than the $250 per pair quoted to me
by Acom. However, they would not be matched, if that is important.
Krassy said they like to pick through the best of what is produced and
match the tubes, hence the additional cost; it's a factor of labor.
The bigger issue is how many hours before the tubes need replacing, I
don't know if I will ever use the amp long enough to need a replacement
set.

I have to echo Bruce's observations about the Acom 2000A. Except I have
found the tubes a good bit cheaper but have never needed any. I have had
the
amp about 2 years and it has been great. A nice feature to me is the
remote
control unit. The amp doesn't even have to be in the shack. There is a
review in May 2000 QST that may help some with the specs etc. Also about
30
reviews on eHam. Of the reviews, all but I think two were 5/5. Of those
two
the 4/5 found something he perceived as less than perfect about the
antenna
switch which is a separate item. and the 1/5 is what we call an outlier
in
statistical analysis and is usually thrown out.
