Yes this amp has tubes, ceramics at a total replacement cost of $250 per
pair matched from Acom ( much less than a pair of 3-500's). Much less
distortion than solid state devices and less costly if you ever need to
change them out.
The extra fan is not needed at all, as per Acom. They offer it only
because the hard core non believers want it; in fact they discourage the
installation of the aux. fan due to the additional intake of dirt!
The antenna switch is to switch 10 antennae. I certainly don't need
that with my LPDA. For the extra dough, I get a much more rugged amp,
much higher output power available if needed, NO complaints about fan
noise in the shack and significantly LOWER distortion on the bands,
hence happier neighbors under any band conditions along with very nice
compliments on how clean my signal is.
Buy what you want to buy; I am only making a suggestion to look at it to
the individual who is looking towards automatic high power operations.
For me, the decision was simple, I own the Acom, a one time investment
in a commercial grade amp.

Base price is $1,000 more; antenna switch is another $645; needs
auxilliary cooling fan for extended duty modes; has tubes
