One inclination is to apologize to Matt Erickson for wasting his time.  However,
I am not going to do that.  He wasted more of his time complaining about it. 

The other is to point out that his kind of response could cause others who
locate problems or supposed problems not to offer follow-ups, something which
may be educational to some (though certainly not to Erickson) of the ones on
this or other lists.  It is, though, both personally surprising and
disappointing to realize how much one sarcastic and demeaning comment can make
someone feel unwelcome, even though the majority were not of that nature.  I
suppose it is a symbol of the new ham radio. Sometimes it is easier to find
where not to turn for help.  

The third is to thank those who did NOT respond with sarcasm but with tolerance
for a tube guy in the digital world.
