Ted,

Thanks for the response. I guess it was better news than I expected, and I
am looking forward to using this new tool. I suspect that you are correct
in regards to removing the DC feed, less hassle. I really appreciate you
taking the time to respond.

Scott:

Between 30 MHz and 2 GHz you will have a usable BW of 10 MHz (+/- 5
MHz), and it is very flat over 7 MHz (+/- 3.5 MHz). Below 30 MHz the BW
is only usable over 20 - 40 KHz (not very useful). A DC block using a
.01 - .02 uf capacitor will work fine. Although it would be better (in
my opinion) to remove the DC feed choke in the R-8500 receiver for the
10.7 MHz IF output.

Subject: [Icom] IC-R8500 Questions ?????

I am in the process of acquiring a Tektronix spectrum analyzer and have
a
couple of questions for those who may have had similar experiences with
the
R8500. I would like to interface the IF output to the spectrum
analyzer,
but apparently there is 9 VDC on this output for the TV option. Could I
assume that a DC block would solve the 9 VDC issue, but then, does
anyone
know about bandwidth (assuming, again, limitations) or even if the IF
out is
usable for the application of a spectrum analyzer. I would appreciate
any
comments or suggestions in this regard. And, as always, a heap of
advance
thanks !
