[Icom] ICOM has some competition...
Dorset, Thomas

Fri, 13 Jun 2003 09:37:03 -0400
Reminds me of my first HT--Icom's venerable IC2AT. =20
Since then I've used ICOM, Yaesu, and Kenwood HTs with no problems =
except battery ones.
Of course, with my current Kenwood THF6A, I spend most of my =
walking/hiking/biking time listening=20
to my local NPR station or scanning the public service bands. =20
Thanks for the post and for the interesting, enlightening group. . . =
I'm liking my new 706MK2G more and more.
BTW, can anyone suggest a good battery to use as emergency power for my =
706? A friend suggested I buy
a deep discharge marine battery and use a slow trickle charger.
Thanks es 73,
Tom

Try and get parts or service for the bloody thing if it breaks, =
though...
USA-made radio, hmmm...LM Ericsson of Stockholm acquired GE's Mobile =
Radio
Communications Division in Lynchburg VA, and subsequently closed it =
down.
Thus, parts availability is limited to NOS on-hand, and a few 2-way =
shops
may still be able to work on Ericsson/GE products - for a price.
Cheers for now, 73,

Subject: [Icom] IC-706 MKIIg Finals
Reply-To: [email protected]
Hi gang,
I just purchased a broken IC-706 MKIIg. I took it half apart and =
noticed
the fan is not working. and the finals are a dead short. The finals =
should
be the cause of the overheating, but I think the fan not working was =
what
caused them to go bad--or so I hope. I also noted diode D171 is fried.
Now, before calling Icom, anyone here knows how much a set of finals =
goes
for, or for that matter, does anyone here has an extra set sitting in =
you
parts box or junker 706 and willing to sell?
Thanks in advance,
Carlos. KF4RRN

Just picked up an Icom 3SAT, and have a question about
charging the internal battery. Does the wall charger
charge this battery when it is plugged into the DC
jack on the top of the HT? If so, how long does a
charge take? Can't find anything about it in the
manual.

I have some Icom battery packs for sale, which fit the
SAT series of HTs, as well as the W2A and the 24AT.=20
They all hold charges, but are not new. May or may
not last as long as a new one, no guarantees on that.
I have 4 BP-84 7.2 volt 1200mah packs. I is by Icom
and 3 are by Kendoo. =20
I also have 1 CM-89 9.6 volt 400 mah pack, by Icom.
I am asking $15 a piece plus shipping. Will be
willing to offer quantity discounts.
