[Icom] 746 Pro questions

I asked these on the Yahoo "746" group, but only one
reply, so thought I'd try here.

I believe there were some QC issues with some of the
early 746 Pro rigs. Have these been taken care of, or
am I mistaken on this issue?

I had a 746 and probably should have held on to that.
My main complaint with it was SWR foldback. Most
of my operating is contesting, and I know the 756 Pro
2 would be a better choice, but I have to stay within
the budget, and as far as new rigs go, the 746 Pro is
looking like the best I can afford. I've had several used
hf rigs over the last year, and everyone has developed
problems. The 746 was just the transistor in the display,
so I probably should have held on to that. I would just
like to have a year where I could send a rig back and
not have to worry about the repair bill.

Are their any 746 owners out there that have bought
the 746 Pro? Is it an improvement, or are they pretty
close? How about cw performance? Does the IF DSP
hold it's own compared to the crystal filters the 746
used?
