Mike,
If you had the radio plugged into the antenna, you probably blew the
front end. This is usually indicated by about a 20 dB attenuation of signal
strengths. I don't know the specifics of the Pro2, but it is usually the
first FET based circuit in the RF path. In some radios it's the mixer, in
others it is the wideband preamp before the mixer. You can either download
the service manual to the 756 Pro (probably similar to the Pro2) and trace
the signal path to find the possible victims, or simply pack the radio up
and send it to Icom. They are pretty fair with their service costs and they
do a good job at fixing common problems (this is probably a fairly common
problem with radios).
Side note:
Since Florida is known as the lightning capital of the US, you now know
that it is a good idea to always unplug your antenna when the radio is not
in use. I do that all the time just by habit even here California where we
only get about 1-2 lightning storms a year (and it is a major media event
when that happens). Being a ham for only 2 years, I'm amazed how many
people get their radios zapped by nearby lightning strikes and how many
radios don't have static and lightning protection. Not the direct hit
protection (not much will help you there), just the resistor and diodes on a
receiver or the glass diodes on TRX's.
Good luck,
Roy
