hi
i had all of the 756's, pro and pro 2...they are gone. i still have the
1000d, purchased in 1993! either rig demonstrated to me any superiority over the
1000d, a/b switch on the same antenna. where the noise and qrm was, i could get
the signal out on the 1000d. noise blanker comparison, there is no comparison,
the 1000d was superb in this field as well. the 1000d power output, 200w, is
as specified, 200 watts ssb on pep led light bar meter. the pro 2 could only
do 60 watts or so, even tho the spec was 100 watts output ssb. icom tells you
if it gets to 100 watts on rtty, its fine. (btw, the original pro gave 95
watts output ssb on the same meter) just falls short, in my humble opinion. also
the dual rx on the 1000d is superb for dx. the display is the one thing on
the pro2 that was captivating. a nice tool. it was hard to give it up, but...i
prefered the feel of a real radio. my other rig is another oldie, a kenwood
950sdx.

just one mans opinion
