Ed,
Be sure your Power Supply is not sagging, and that you don't have any
connections that are becoming resistive. You pull more current on the
higher bands for the same power out, I've seen this affect several 706's,
mobile or fixed. Check your voltage where it enters the radio with a
DVM. If it drops below 12.000 volts, you will see this problem.
