Frosty, Obtain a 12 VDC reed relay (which the coil only draws 11ma.) in the
relay section at your local Radio Shack. I've used these to key my SB-220
and other applications and they have contacts rated at 1AMP and are quite
reliable and always seem to be available every time I needed one.
Use the N.O. contacts to an piece of shielded cable with an RCA plug to key
the modified SB-220 6 Meter amp and run the coil windings of the reed relay
to the 706MKII 13 pin accessory plug pins 8 & 3 to activate the coil on the
reed relay in the transmit mode.
The whole thing fits nicely in a 35MM film container after drilling a couple
of holes for the wires. I use small coaxial cable RG one forty something???
but the cables are not critical.
Best wishes and have a safe trip and a good time. -=Rog-K9RB=-

Subject: [Icom] Key line
I know that this was talked about in the past. I need to know how to wire a
keying line from my IC706MKll to a heathkit SB220 for 6 meters. This is what
we are going to use in 7P8 for 6 meters. Any help is greatly appreciated I
need to build this up in the next 2 days as we leave on the 14th and hope to
be on the air on the 18th.
