Can't give you a 781 vs PROII but I can give you a 765 vs PROII. The PROII
started out as radio number 2 in a 2 radio contesting/DXing setup. It took
me about two weeks to fall in love with the 'perfect' DSP filters and
develop a mild distaste for the imperfect analog filters and now the PROII
is radio number 1.
The 765 is equipped with Fox Tango ssb filters and Icom 250 hz cw filters.
I lucked in with the Icom 250 hz filters as they are actually 300 hz wide
but I still prefer the PROII.
Sensitivity - the PROII measures much better that the 765 but if I can hear
a signal on one, I can hear it on the other. During receive the same
antenna feeds both radios in parallel.
