Hi Folks,

I have been using my Icom 2KL with my 756 PRO II for some time now, and I
must say it is the best amp I have ever used. It puts out a real 500 watts
of RF.

I have had Drakes, Kenwood's, Alpha, Ameritron (ugh), Dentron, and Collins
and the 2KL is the best yet.

I will probably upgrade to a PW 1 one of these days if I sell the last of
the brand C stuff but then I will swap the 2KL to the IC 7400.

My new rotor is up and going so the Icom RF is again circling the globe

Malcolm,

Been using my PW-1 (version 2) for past 3+ years and think it's great
other than the loud fans. However, I do recall two issues raised on
this reflector. First, one ham had some experience running RTTY
barefoot at 100 watts through his PW-1 only to have a component in the
amp fry under marginal SWR. His research indicated that the component
was significantly under rated even with the amp off. Not sure how
this was resoved or the details. Second, the power supply is integral
to the amp. If the PW1 PS fails repair or replacement is expensive.
Not sure what the case would be with the 4KL given the PS is a
separate unit, but no longer manufactured.

Anyway some thoughts,

Harry WE1X
