MALCOLM,
I DON'T HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THE PW-1 BUT, I HAVE HAD MY 4KL FOR 3+
YEARS. BOUGHT IT USED AND IT WORKED FINE THE FIRST NIGHT (ALL BANDS 1 KW OUT
EASY WITH 40-50 WATTS). NEXT NIGHT RED LIGHT UPON TRANSMITTING... CALLED
ICOM WASHINGTON AND THEY HAD ME TRY A FEW THINGS BUT NOTHING WORKED... SENT
IT TO THEM (JUST THE RF DECK, THEY HAD A POWER SUPPLY) 2ND DAY AIR AND
EXACTLY 7 DAYS LATER I GOT IT BACK AND IT HAS NOT EVEN HICCUPED SINCE...
THE TUNER DOESN'T SEEM TO WANT TO WORK VERY WELL ON 12 METERS, BUT ALL OTHER
BANDS IT'S FULL POWER OUT .. A REAL WORK HORSE.. ONE OF THE BEST PURCHASES
I EVER MADE.. OH, YES, THE PROBLEM WAS A RELAY... COST WAS $170 INCLUDING
2ND DAY AIR SHIPPING FROM KANSAS..
IF ANYBODY HAS A SUGGESTION ON THE 12 METER PROBLEM, I WOULD BE INTERESTED
IN HEARING IT.. 10 AND 15 WORK VERY WELL... I DON'T THINK YOU CAN GO WRONG
WITH EITHER THE PW-1 OR THE 4KL... 73, JIM / W0HFG
