I told him that the biggest problem with this rig was overheat in the power
supply unit. He did not believe me so that eventually two of his rigs got
smoked. After opened up his defected rigs, I noticed that the electrolytic
capacitors in the power supply unit were all burst and burnt marks were
everywhere.

transformer to turn domestic 230V AC supply to 200 V to suit his rigs. Now,
he notices the following and would like to get some advice from you:

supply unit and tries to use the step down transformer as well. However,
when he uses the step down transformer to operate his receiver under 200V,
the receiver does not function well but generate a lot of internal birdies.

Since his English is not too good, he has asked me to put forward his
questions here. Could all of you give your explanation to the above
