Hi Scott,

I went from Kenwood to the IC-746 a few months... love the rig.. it's not
hard to get use to operating and has most of the features I was looking
for. You can download the user manual from the ICOM site and get a good
idea on how things work in advance.

I did a lot of research, compared many radios before making the decision. I
got a lot of good information and help from the IC746 user group. You may
want to check this out: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/IC746/ . The group
has over 1,000 users and not too many complaints... Also check the reviews
on eham: http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/176

For many years I used a Kenwood TS-450SAT with a DSP-9+.. It worked well
for me but would not go back now I have my IC-746.. One of the best rigs
for the money.
