Several hams in the area, myself included, have bought
one or two IC-2100H two meter radios. They are great
little rigs and simple to operate.
I problem has developed in three of the radios. There
is a popping, crackling, or snapping sound which is
heard by both the operator and the receiving station.
Power setting has no effect.
One radio was sent to ICOM service and what was called
the APC transistor was replaced. About two weeks later
the popping returned. Although it was a warranty
repair, if the problem persists, warranty will be of
no effect because it will ultimately expire.
Just curious as to whether many others have
experienced this problem.
