[Icom] 706 MkII or TS-50 for Mobile HF?

I'm running the 706MkII in my truck. I considered the TS-50 until I
found out it didn't have a detachable faceplate. With the limited room
in todays vehicles, I would not even consider any radio without a remote
attachable control head. As far as does the 706MkII work? I'm totally
staisfied. I use it with an SGC tuner and whip system.
