Can't give you exact difference between the two antennas other than
physically.

Physically, the FA-S6270A is about two inches shorter than the FA-S6270B.
The "B" model was the standard antenna for the IC-T8A (tri-bander). The
"A" model was the standard antenna for the IC-T81A (quad-bander).

In my experience with the two antennas, I would say the "B" model is a
marginally more efficient... Reason for saying this is that put on the
same handheld, it makes the HT hear "EVERYTHING" (especially on the two
meter band - intermod and all). The "A" model keeps things much quieter.
I say the FA-S6270B is an intermod magnet! Icom may have changed
antennas to make things quieter in the T81A (after a load of complaints
about the "intermod magnet" they had on the T8A)... If you really want
to hear everything, intermod and all and, if you can find one, switch to
the FA-S6270B! The "B" model is probably a great antenna in the middle
of nowhere, in an urban area, it renders T8A and T81A useless, at least
on the two meter band.
