Hi Ken: I too own the Pro2. Only mod I am aware of is the MARS mod for both
US and European units. This mod calls for the removal of specified diodes to
open up the transmit of the Pro2. It is already wide open for Rx, but not
Tx. Unless you are a MARS member, I would not recommend your making the
mod. The diodes are SMT and require someone with both the tools and
expertise to remove, to minimize the chance for heat damage to the
surrounding components, traces and board. Also, if the mod is made, it has
been reported and I will soon verify ( as I have just accomplished the mod)
that from 5 Mhz to 5.999 Mhz there is a gradual loss of output power down to
about 25W, then back to full power at 6Mhz. This, if true is of no
consequence to me as I am using other bands for my MARS work and do not
anticipate this matter to be a problem on those frequencies. The observed
power loss has something to do with the alogarythm of the CPU in selecting
filters for certain bands. No other mods available that I have seen or
heard of.
