Hi Hart,
Do you know of any clubs in your area? If so, try a few meetings and ask
if you can listen to some of the members radios. You might be surprised at
the newer Icoms. Add on's can always be made later. The noise can give me
a headache too. I have a 706MKIIG and for the money, used or new, you get
a radio that has some nice features on it. Higher end Icoms are even
better, but my budget wasn't up to it :<} Are there any ham stores in
Toronto or close by in the states? If so, go try out everything you can
get them to hook up.
