[Icom] IC-765 tuner problem

Hi Don,
Now I understand a little better what is going on. The internal auto-tuner
must be disengaged when using an external tuner. Cascading tuners can
reflect high reactance values back into the auto-tuner and/or LPF. As a
result, dangerously high RF voltages can appear across capacitors in these
networks, leading to component failure. Even if no damage occurs, the
results can be unpredictable.
Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ

The external tuner is located at the end of the longwire and the
radio is located at the other end of the house. I do a rough
setting on the external tuner and use the internal one to
account for frequency changes.
