[Icom] Icom V8 vs Yaesu VX150

I have them both and they both work great. My preference is for the VX-150.
Which, BTW, has been on sale at some incredably low prices ($75-$99). The
VX-150 is somewhat smaller than the IC-V8. The IC-V8 lacks an external
power connector. so there is no way to run it off a connection to the
cigarette lighter in your car. To charge the VX-150 I have found some very
small and light switching power supplies. Only 1/4 the weight of the heavy
wall wart. I carry a pair of VX-150's. One for myself and one for my XYL.
They fit neatly in a small camera bag. The IC-V8 has to be charged in the
provided stand-charger. I have heard some reports of IC-V8's being more
suceptable to strong out-of-band signals. A problem I've never had with the
VX-150, even here in metropolitan Charlotte where commmercial communications
towers are all around me.
Hope this helps.
