So much depends on what can you spend. There are IC-725's and IC-728's to
be had for US$250 - $350. They work well. There is the IC-73x series
(IC-737, IC-737A, IC-738, IC-736) which I think are quite nice. An IC-737
can be had in the US$500 range if you look around. These have very
effective internal antenna tuners. There are many others up and down the
scale. Decide what you can spend and I think you'll get a lot of specific
advice.

> Obviously life is to short, and therefore have come to the conclusion that
buying a new rig is out of the question. So I'm asking all icom owners what
type of icom radio I should be looking for. I looking for something with a
built in antenna tuner and a good notch filter to deal with [what I call
fried egg sound] qrm/qrn that is associated with HF bands. The way things
are going at this rate I'll never get on HF, It'll be cheaper for me to buy
a car than buy a new rig. So your ideas and comments are greatly appreciated
in this matter. Please e-mail me off line at. Thanks
