[Icom] 706 MKII keying & using amp???

Hi Larry,

The IC-707 has a reed-type keying relay. (PIN diodes are never used for DC
switching applications such as this.) You can view the schematic here (you
will need the DjVu plug-in from http://www.lizardtech.com)

If you have access to the Alpha 76CA, you should be able to measure the
keying voltage and current. The 16V/0.5A rule still applies, although the
IC-707 should be safe with the older Alpha spec of 27V/7mA.

Cheers for now, 73, Happy Hogmanay,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ

1. Does the 707 key with the proverbial relay or pin
diodes?
2. Wonder about keying an Alpha 76CA amp (not recent
vintage) without a buffer circuit.
