Hi Mike,

I have my pro 2 since dec of 2001and the first contest that I have really put
it to work was SWEEPSTAKES, PHONE this past Nov. 02.

Let me tell you, upgrading from my trusty like a rock KENWOOD TS-850SAT, wow..
it was fantastic.. IMHO, before operating in a contest, you should really be
familiar with the pro 2.. In order to make small changes in the menus, which
are quick, after 16 hours or so, the mind is a little fuzzy and its easy to
screw up something else.. I have.. so set it and forget it or be really sure
the first time.

Now back to operations...the dsp was awesome... I had set the filters to
2.4/2.1/1.8 and at times lowered the bandwidth to 1.6 or so.. wow...the
clarity was pretty much still there w/o much of the qrm that you would
expect.

Now 22 hours straight up, no breaks..more that 10 min anyway, it performed
solid!
I built a remote memory voice keyer as I wanted the functionality of the
front panel and still be able to use the memories.. Its outlined in the icom
manual and I just added a little bit more for my operating in the shack.

the link is ;<A HREF="http://www.qsl.net/ab4oj/icom/dvrcon/dvrcon.html"> N2LH
remote keyer</A>

Adam Farson maintains a great ICOM Q & A web page and put together my
pictures and description into a web page and posted to his master web page..
You should review his page as there is a lot of information there.

So, IMHO, its a great contest rig...with the var NR and some many other
features..its a keeper

GL and c u next contest...

73..
