Dave -
I had a IC-207H and I liked its size and functionality, but I traded it
after 5 months for a Kenwood.
Why? Icom used a proprietary and expensive 4 conductor plug that is used
for remote
mounting of the control head AND is used for the programming interface.
$ 60 for a cable is not a good price point. Connector is also premium
priced.
Kenwood also provides the PC software (free) on their web site. With Icom
you are still left
with RT Systems or whoever chooses to write the software.
The new IC-2720H appears to have incorporated some of the lessons learned on
the connector.
