Hi Dave,
Sorry - I missed the word "amplified". The internal amplifier may be subject
to EMC/RFI problems. You could try it, with the output level turned down. I
would suggest that you check the circuitry of the internal preamp for a
blocking capacitor in the output line. If there is none, I would still
recommend installing one.
If you intend keeping the D-104, I still feel that the best long-term
solution is the Heil retrofit, as per my previous message. This will involve
"gutting" the microphone head and base. You will end up with a sharp-looking
bit of history which nevertheless performs up to modern standards.
Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ

Subject: [Icom] D-104 Silver Eagle microphone
I picked up a bit of nostalgia in the form of a D-104 Silver Eagle
(amplified) microphone at the Orlando hamcation yesterday. Rather than just
display it, I would like to use it with my 756-pro and 775-DSP. I wonder if
anyone has tried this and what, if any modifications were found to be
beneficial. Thanks in advance.
