Bert, I bought narrow filters when I bought the radio. I installed them in
the indicated locations. I have had good use from the narrow filter options
on SSB and CW and have three options on FM -- FM with the N indicator either
on or off, regular FM, and WFM. These filters, together with the DSP
options give me just about anything I could want in the type of operations I
do. I guess I haven't had to worry too much about extra narrow filter on FM
as the regular (N)FM works fine for all the amateur radio FM work I've done.
I use WFM for monitoring some local broadcast stations. I don't know if
this helps or not, but take it for a usage report from one contented ham.
