Hi Tom,

Before you make a decision, may I recommend that you look over some of the
IC-756Pro User Reviews and technical articles on my Icom page? Some of them
are quite in-depth.

My friend Matt KK5DR also has a a number of extensive user reviews on his
site.

On the TS-2000: One might characterise it as "jack-of-all-trades and master
of none". The designers put so much capability into that box that they had
to strike a lot of compromises in the performance area. Besides, the thing
is so U-G-L-Y !

The Spectrum Scope is actually a miniature spectrum analyser built into the
Pro2. Its specs are quite impressive for a built-in mini-analyser - minimum
dispersion +/- 12.5 khz, resolution bandwidth 1 kHz @ -3 dB. The vertical
axis will display signals right down to "grass" level. The Spectrum Scope
displays the amplitude/frequency spectrum of the selected band segment in
real-time, and can also be configured to display the spectral content of the
transmitted signal.

In the 1970's, I worked professionally in satellite communications. There
was a spectrum-analyser display on the control console of the earth station.
This display gave an overview of all the signals in the 500 MHz satellite
transponder bandwidth. I remember thinking at the time that it would be
wonderful if an HF receiver had a similar amplitude/frequency display.

Icom have put this facility within our reach. I have had Icom radios
equipped with a spectrum scope for 10 years now; this is one capability I
would certainly not wish to give up.
