Subject: [Icom] icom freq expansion

I am thinking of applying for membership to MARS. As many of u know they
operate outside of the ham bands...
My Icom 706mkg2 will operate without mods at 4.011and 7.385 Mhz but will
need
a mod for 5.790Mhz.

Is there a cheap and dirty way to expand the freq coverage of the
transmitter? Should this be done by the factory or dealer?

Any advice would be appreciated :-)
