[Icom] 761 - XYL's influence

Hi Don,

Yep, I agree. When my wife gets back from a business trip, she goes to the
radio room to see what else is new.

Actually we have a good deal going, she collects vintage glass items and
has them in cases all over the house. I know nothing about glass and she,
nothing about radios. There is no glass in the radio room and there are no
radios in the glass rooms. Heck of a deal.

On a side note, I talked to the guy that I got the 761 from yesterday and
he claims that it was working 100% on all modes and all bands the night
before he loaded it up for the fest. I still have to wonder how 4 diodes
got reversed in it overnight hi hi.

He said the tuner worked FB and really did a good job. My my, I wonder how
all the wiring to the 2 drive motors fell off and the ends all taped up
nicely and then taped to the side of the tuner with duct tape. Very
interesting.....

I am going to look at it one more time after I get another PRO II. I am
going to order the 2 transistors and the diodes that Icom said to replace
and give it a try. I replaced the transistors with the ECG types and I
remember when doing TV service many years ago, half the time they did not
work.
