Jack,
The answer is officially no, but with a qualifier. The Logic Unit in the 745
is very similar to that used on the IC-751A, but there are some missing
parts, PCB headers, plus the uP is hardwired high on the INT2 line. I
suspect that 751A-style UX-14 type control is possible if the Logic Unit is
reworked so that the INT2 line is controlled by the UX-14 and the data paths
(bi-directionally) are established. The one possible hangup in such a scheme
is how data segments are dynamically assigned to the RAM Unit, there may be
some differences between the factory 751A scheme and a 745 modified setup.
Just too early to tell at this point.
I announced some time ago on my www.icomclassic.com website that I was
looking into the possibility of such a mod. I have an extra 745 on the bench
dedicated to this effort. Hopefully this summer I will have time to re-visit
this issue, and see if control can be established in the 745 using a UX-14
clone type interface. If I get any new info on this I will certainly post
it.
