Hmmm...  I have the original IC-706 MK-I.  I did the yellow wire mod.  Not
the cut mod, but the relocate it to the IC chip mod.  I have been satisfied
with the radio.  Dunno if the others are better, but you might try the mod
first and save the $$$$.  Nope, you used to own...

Never mind.  Unless you find a MK-1 cheap.
