Brian -

I don't know what the product "Goo-BeGone" is, but GOO-GONE (manufactured
by Magic American Corp.) is the citrus based liquid that claims to remove
grease, stickers, tar, gum, crayon, tape and a whole lot of other stuff. 
From my experience, it works as advertised and has never damaged any
paint on my projects, old or new.
