Hello,
        I have an Icom  IC 706MK II that I bought off someone here in New
Zealand.

 I have a problem with this radio where it works on all modes but has
trouble on FM RX only. I t will TX on FM OK but is deaf on RX, this is
common to all bands so I think it is somewhere in the FM detector stage.

I was wondering where the S meter take off point is as when it is in FM
mode, the S Meter does not show signal either but if switched into SSB mode,
it will show S meter reading. As mentioned, TX is fine and on frequency but
on RX, scanning up and down the band from the nominated Signal generator
frequency does not find any signal, I don't think this is a PLL problem.

The audio quality on FM TX is fine and can trigger 2m repeaters OK but will
not hear the tail.

Is this a common fault and if so, how can I fix it? Do you have any PDF
service manuals for this radio at all?
