    Hello Jim, you can try a simple but efficient method if you have not
another mike to test for SSB. Locate in the mic connector the pin
corresponding to audio input from mike. Then raise mic gain fully (also
engage compressor if you have) and touch this pin with your finger, or
with
something metallic also in contact with you (for example, with a thin
screwdriver hanging it from is metallic shaft). If SSB chain is fine,
there
might be a few output watts at least. In this way, you are feeding mike
audio input with hum taken by your body, and resolve if the microphone
is
good or not.
