I don't want to beat this thread to death, but since the gentleman was using a
Icom IC-706 there is a gentle reminder.
Low Pass filters tend to cut-off about 40MHZ. So if you are going to or want
to use the 6 meter and you have to either get a lowpass filter that cuts-off
higher like the Drake TV-5200 that cuts-off after 52MHZ or put the lowpass
filter in the line to the lowband antennas and not to the 6 meter antenna.
The easy way to check a lowpass filter is to hook it to a dummyload and the
other end to a MFJ-249 analyzer. The SWR will be low until you get to the
cut-off freq and then will go sky high.
