[Icom] ICM MIC FOR 775DSP

Hi to all.
Just bought a heil ICM mic to use with my 775dsp. after hooking it up ,I made about 10 contacts. The result from all was the mic sounded tinny and peaked at mid range. Contacted heil and was told, Nonsence and to turn the mic tone control fully up and that should solve the problem,so far it has not. Other than the fact that I might have a defective mic,what should I do to correct the problem. I was wondering what the transmit low and hi pass filters should be set at to match the ICM and any other adj. that can be made. I keep the mic level so the alc is reading 1/3 to 1/2 scale max.
 I thought maybe somebody has had experance with this combo and would save me the trouble of reinventing the wheel again.
