A friend of mine K4SUS had the same problem last year. He has an early
($expensive) 746. After talking to Icom they bent over backwards to fix it
for free and they even shipped it back by air. I think they indicated it was
a common problem. I dont have further details. My 746 (later model, cheap)
has not had the problem.
