[Icom] Opinions re: HF Verticals?

All depends on the enviroment obviously. I have had many multiband verticals over the years and installed properly with many radials, they do perform very well. I currently have 6 homebrew verticals in operation and they outperform my wires at 90 feet some of the time. Depends on propagation and what angle of radiation you want. Many factors to consider before there is a simple yes or no. About 8 years ago I installed a 9 band butternut on a 50 ft tower with the anti-radial kit....worked pretty well but nothing to brag about. My best multiband was a 9 band butternut with 90 radials and mounted on good conductive ground with nothing around it.
Amazing how people can so quick to give a simple answere to a complex question. Your ground conductivity will play a roll as will your installation. As far as which brands are best.....I don't know. But I am a firm believer in verticals installed properly...your mileage may vary.....
